To be eligible to be an Agency Member of Big I Illinois, an insurance agency doing business as an individual, partnership, corporation or other form of business must meet the following criteria:

  • be licensed as required by the State of Illinois to market and sell the insurance and financial services products it offers;

  • maintain such licenses in good standing;

  • engage in any or all types of insurance business with the ability to represent or place insurance with multiple carriers;

  • meet all other membership eligibility requirements of the Association.

Big I Illinois membership dues are not deductible as a charitable contribution but may be deductible as an ordinary and necessary business expense. A portion of the dues, however, is not deductible as an ordinary and necessary business expense to the extent that the Big I Illinois engages in lobbying. The non-deductible portion of dues for 2023/2024 is 14%.
